Vietnamese culture highlighted in Belgium

On display are old images of Vietnam collected by Clement Huet who lived in Hanoi in the 1912-1938 period.

The exhibition also displays a collection of antiques including BatTrang pottery, a reproduction of Dong Son Drum and many other objects.

Visitors also have an opportunity to explore Vietnam’s culture throughphotos, articles on temples, pagodas, Buddha statues and archaeologicalexcavation sites in Vietnam.

Clips depicting the productionprocess of Bat Trang pottery, Dong Ho folk paintings and bell castingare also screened at the event.

President of the House ofRepresentatives Andre Flahaut said the event is a good chance forBelgian people to understand more about Vietnam’s culture andcontributes to promoting diplomatic ties and economic cooperationbetween the two countries.

Meanwhile, Belgian Deputy PrimeMinister cum Minister of Foreign Affair Didier Reynders said he isimpressed with Vietnam’s gastronomy through photos and objects exhibitedat the event.

The exhibition will run until May, 2014 as partof the activities to mark the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic tiesbetween the two countrie.-VNA
