Vietnamese Deputy FM supported to lead ASEAN

Foreign ministers of ASEAN member countries are in favour of Vietnam’s nomination of its Deputy Foreign Minister Le Luong Minh as ASEAN Secretary-General for the 2013-2017 tenure.
Foreign ministers of ASEAN member countries are in favour of Vietnam’s nomination of its Deputy Foreign Minister Le Luong Minh as ASEANSecretary-General for the 2013-2017 tenure.

Theinformation was released by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Luong ThanhNghi at a regular press briefing on August 9 in Hanoi.

The nomination, which was made during the recent 45 th ASEANMinisterial Meeting, will be considered by high-ranking officials ofASEAN at the association’s 21 st Summit in Phnom Penh inNovember.

Responding to questions on reports thatChina sends a large number of fishing vessels to the East Sea, thespokesperson said, “all activities in the East Sea must be in accordanceto international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention onthe Law of the Sea and the spirit of the Declaration on Conduct of theParties in the East Sea (DOC), on the basis of respecting thesovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of all countries,contributing to peace, stability in the region and preserving themaritime environment and resources”.-VNA

Hanoi's National Assembly deputies urged to fulfill commitments to voters

In the third quarter of 2026, Hanoi recorded a strong breakthrough, with growth of 10.02%, exceeding the national rate of 9.95%. This marked the first time the city had achieved double-digit growth this year and its highest quarterly growth rate. Its GRDP growth in the first nine months was estimated at 8.85%, up from 7.92% in the same period of 2025.
