Nguyen Hoang Tu of Vietnam has been chosen as one of 12 finalists in the regional Asian fashion design contest – Audi Star Creation (ASC) – judges have announced.
The contest attracted 418 candidates from 14 countries and territories in Asia.
Tu, along with the final contestants from Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia and Malaysia, will compete in a Runway Showdown final round at Tent@Orchard, Singapore on May 12.
Tu's collection, named The New Asia, features the strong development of Asia from agriculture, industry, services, entertainment and, particularly, fashion.
With bold cut-outs and 3D design techniques on silk and wool materials, Tu said he would like the designs to illustrate the liberal and out-of-the-ordinary tastes of the Asian people.
Vice President of Singapore Textile and Fashion Federation David Wang said contestants design fashions with inspiration from architecture, culture, history, social trends and even religions from their own countries.
Three winners of the contest will receive 8,000 USD each and a one-year training course by the fashion retailer FJ Benjamin.-VNA
