Vietnamese expats in Bangladesh join post-Tet gathering

The Vietnam Embassy in Bangladesh has organised a get-together for the overseas Vietnamese community on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, which took place earlier this month.

Dhaka (VNA) – The Vietnam Embassy in Bangladeshhas organised a get-together for the overseas Vietnamese community on theoccasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, which took place earlier thismonth.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Tran Van Khoa lauded the community’sinvolvement in activities celebrating 45 years of the Vietnam – Bangladeshdiplomatic relations in 2018.

He encouraged the expats to continue supporting each other inovercoming difficulties and contribute to building their home country andfostering the bilateral friendship.

Featuring musical performances and Vietnamese signaturedishes, the event helped to connect the Vietnamese expats and left a strongimpression on participating Bangladeshi friends.

Sanjida Haque, a Bangladeshi heritage official, said it isthe first time she has experienced Vietnam’s traditional Tet celebration,adding that she is impressed by the colourful ao dai (Vietnamese traditionallong dress) and local food.

She said thanks to promotion efforts made by the embassy andexpat community, Vietnamese culinary delights and culture are becoming morepopular among Bangladeshis and foreigners in the country.-VNA
