Vietnamese investors assist victims of Lao plane crash

The Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos on May 19 handed over 47,000 USD to the Lao Government Office to assist families of victims of the deadly May 17 plane crash in the country.
The Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos on May 19 handed over 47,000 USD to the Lao Government Office to assist families of victims of the deadly May 17 plane crash in the country.

According to Pham Quang Tung, Deputy Director General of the Bank of Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), Vietnamese businesses in Laos hope to share the loss that the victims’ families as well as the whole nation of Laos are suffering.

Phetsakhon Duong Aphay, Vice Chairman of the Lao Government Office, thanked the association and Vietnamese investors for their effective investment in the country as well as their willingness to give a helping hand to needy Lao people.

The accident of the AN-74TK-300 that belongs to the Lao Air Force occurred in Nadi village, Pec district in Xieng Khouang province at 7:00 on May 17.

It killed many Lao senior officials on board, including Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Douangchay Phichit, Minister of Public Security Thoongbane Sengaphone, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training Cheuang Sombounkhane and Governor of Vientiane Sukhan Mahalad.-VNA
