Vietnamese, Japanese Prime Ministers hold phone talks

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held talks over thephone with his Japanese counterpart Suga Yoshihide on October 12, during whichhe once again congratulated the latter on being elected to his position.

Phuc affirmed that Vietnam always considers Japan itsstrategic, important and long-term partner and wishes, together with thecountry, to promote bilateral cooperation as well as cooperation in regionaland international issues of mutual concern, for the interests of the twopeoples, and contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region andthe world.

He expressed his gratitude for Japan’s valuable support forVietnam in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and hopes that both sides willcontinue supporting each other to defeat the pandemic.

Suga Yoshihide showed his delight at strong development inbilateral relations. He affirmed that Japan treasures and want to bring thebilateral cooperation to a new height.

He spoke highly of the role and position of Vietnam in theregion and the world, adding that Japan will collaborate closely with Vietnamfor the success of the upcoming ASEAN Summit.

He also extended his sympathy to people in central Vietnam whoare suffering losses caused by severe flooding.

The Vietnamese Government leader took the occasion to invitehis Japanese counterpart to visit Vietnam at a convenient time. The latteraccepted the invitation./.

Foreign policy contributes to propelling Vietnam into new era

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.
