Hanoi (VNA) - Hoang Binh Quan, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of its Commission for External Relations, held online talks with General Secretary of Mexico’s Labour Party (PT) Alberto Anaya on September 18, seeking ways to maintain and enhance the traditional and friendly relationship between the two Parties and peoples amid COVID-19.
Quan praised the cooperation between the two Parties, describing it as typical of collaboration between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and political parties in Latin America.
He thanked Anaya and PT for their sentiments and support to Vietnam, especially the latter’s stance on the East Sea issue.
Quan also suggested measures to bolster bilateral ties, activities celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (May 1975-2020), and ways to effectively implement the cooperation agreement reached by the two Parties for 2019-2024.
Anaya, for his part, congratulated Vietnam on the outcomes the country has posted in the fight against COVID-19 which, he said, have demonstrated the sound leadership of the Vietnamese Party and Government and the solidarity of the Vietnamese people.
The PT leader expressed his belief that under the leadership of the CPV, Vietnamese people will successfully complete the dual goals of containing the pandemic and spurring socio-economic development, and that the CPV will successfully organise the 13th National Party Congress.
He reiterated PT’s support for Vietnam’s viewpoint and stance on the East Sea issue, the settlement of disputes in the waters through peaceful measures in line with international law, and the multilateral settlement through rulings of the international tribunal.
He voiced a hope for stronger, deeper, and multi-faceted cooperation between the two Parties which will create an important political foundation for Vietnam-Mexico relations./.
