Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and the United Kingdom have enjoyed sound cooperation in past years, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army said during a reception for UK Ambassador to Vietnam Giles Lever on August 2.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to step up cooperation, particularly in delegation exchanges, English language training, military industry and United Nations peacekeeping activities.

The same day, the Vietnamese official met with a Thai working group, led by Lieutenant General Thongchai Sarasuk, Director of Joint Operations under the Royal Thai Armed Forces.

The two officials affirmed that defence relations are significant in Vietnam-Thailand relations.

They said the Vietnamese and Thai militaries need to bolster collaboration in people-to-people exchanges and sharing experience in peacekeeping activities.-VNA
