Vietnamese Party delegation visits Italy

Rome (VNA) – A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), led by Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia, has visited Italy.

During their stay from April 16 – 21, Nghia and his entourage had meetings with vice president of the Italian Senate Maurizio Gasparri; deputy head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Italian House of Representatives and president of the  Italy – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group Lia Quartapelle, secretary of the Communist Refoundation Party of Italy (PRC-EL) Maurizio Acerbo; secretary of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) Mauro Alboresi; vice president of the Democratic Party of Italy Chiara Gribaudo; vice president of the Veneto region Elisa de Berti; and director general of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) Webber Ndoro.

The delegation also visited and had working sessions with numerous agencies and organisations of Italy operating in culture, education, information and communications. They also met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Italy. Notably, they attended a workshop on President Ho Chi Minh's activities in Italy organnised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy.

The visit aimed to further strengthen the Vietnam - Italy strategic partnership in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the ten years of strategic partnership, the delegation said at the working sessions.

During the meetings with Italian partners, the delegation informed the hosts about Vietnam’s recent socio-economic development, and the country’s national development goals and strategies in the coming time.

Nghia emphasised that Vietnam and Italy have established a solid framework of relations, saying that traditional relationship between the CPV and Italian political parties is an important foundation for the two countries to effectively boost the bilateral ties in fields.

He suggested that Italian partners back Vietnam's development and foreign policies, and coordinate with Vietnam in popularising Vietnam's foreign messages to the government, localities and people of Italy, contributing to deepening the Vietnam - Italy strategic partnership.

The delegation made specific proposals to further promote bilateral cooperation, especially in terms of culture, education - training, science - technology, and information and communications as well as coordination between the two countries in addressing global issues such as fake news, and climate change.

While expressing their joy at the closer strategic partnership between the two countries, the Italian side affirmed that Italy considers Vietnam an important partner in the region, and that the European nation is interested in updated information on Vietnam.

They suggested Vietnam continue to create favourable conditions for Italian businesses to invest in Vietnam, and expressed their belief that the visit is an opportunity for the two sides to promote educational and cultural exchange, and share experience in preserving cultural heritage./.

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Parliamentary leaders hail development of Vietnam – Russia ties

The trip also included meetings with Vietnamese diplomatic staff and the Vietnamese community in China, exchanges with relatives of Chinese generals, experts and others who had supported Vietnam-China friendship, attendance at a Vietnam - China friendship art programme, a visit to the historic Nanning Yucai School, and participation in activities launching a Vietnam–China Border People’s Festival 2026.
