Hanoi (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) Leonid Kalashnikov has met with Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Secretariat Vo Van Thuong as part of the Russian official’s visit to Vietnam. Kalashnikov and his entourage also paid courtesy visits to Tran Tuan Anh, Politburo member and Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Economic Commission; Dinh Tien Dung, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh, who is also President of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Parliamentarians Group.
He held talks with Le Hoai Trung, member of the CPV Central Committee and Chairman of the CPV Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, and held working sessions with a number of Vietnamese competent agencies.
At the meetings, the two sides briefed each other on the situation of their respective parties and countries, and compared notes on measures to step up bilateral relations.
They affirmed their determination to foster cooperation between the CPV and the KPRF as well as the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in a practical manner, for the sake of the two countries’ people, and for peace and stability in the region and the world.
Earlier, Kalashnikov presented Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong with the Lenin Prize, the noblest prize of the KPRF and the former Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
Kalashnikov affirmed that the prize demonstrates the respect for and recognition of the prominent contributions by General Secretary Trong, a brilliant politician highly valued in Russia and the world, as well as his unceasing efforts to solidify the Vietnam - Russia relations./.
