Vietnamese swimmer wins another gold medal at 3rd Asian Para Games

Jakarta(VNA) – Swimmer Vo Thanh Tung won another gold medal for Vietnam afterfinishing men’s 50m backstroke S5 within 38’50’’ at the ongoing Asian ParaGames in Indonesia on October 8.

Nguyen Dang Vien,Tung’s coach, held that this is the first victory of Tung as he is competing insix events at the Asian Para Games 2018.

This is the secondgold medal that Vietnamese swimmers have bagged at the games.

Earlier on October7, swimmer Nguyen Thanh Trung secured the first gold medal for Vietnam aftertaking lead at the men’s 100m breaststroke event for athletes with disabilitycategory of SB4.

On October 9, Tungwill continue vying in other five events – 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100mfreestyle, 200m medley and 200m freestyle.

As of 6:45pm ofOctober 8, the Vietnamese delegation had won four gold, one silver, and fivebronze medals, ranking sixth in the medal tally.

At the previousAsian Para Games in 2014, Vietnam won nine gold, seven silver, and 13 bronzemedals, finishing 10th in the overall medal tally. –VNA
