Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese Truong Thi Kim Tuyen was voted best athlete of an international taekwondo tournament which closed in Morocco on November 30.

Tuyen is one among nearly 440 competitors from 20 countries and territories.

She won a gold medal in the women's 46kg category after winning four matches at the event.

She also received 10 points from the International Taekwondo Federation to lift her world ranking from 70th to 66th.

The fighter, among Asia's top four, will take part in the Olympic qualification round next April.

"We hope Tuyen will be outstanding at the qualifier to win an official slot to the Olympics. She is a really talented athlete who is only 18 but owns a strong physique and a stable and competitive mind," Vu Xuan Thanh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation said.

Apart from Tuyen's title, Vietnam also grabbed two bronze medals by Pham Thi Thu Hien in the women's 57kg, and Ha Thi Nguyen in the women's 67kg class.-VNA
