Vietnamese team ranks fifth at Int’l Math Olympiad

Vietnamese students bagged two gold, three silver and one bronze medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Thailand, rising to fifth place of the 104 participating teams, revealed the Ministry of Education and Training’s Department of Education Testing and Accreditation on July 15.

The two gold medals werewon by Vu Xuan Trung from Thai Binh High School and Nguyen TheHoan from Hanoi National University ’s Special School forNatural Science.

Hoang Anh Tai from Nghe An, NguyenTuan Hai Dang from Hanoi and Nguyen Huy Hoang from Ho Chi Minh City wonthe silver medals and Nguyen Thi Viet Ha from Ha Tinh province broughthome her bronze.

This is the best outcome for theVietnamese team in recent years at an IMO, an annual world mathematicscompetition for high school students. The team only ranked 10th in2014 and 7th in 2013.

The Vietnamese students are set to return to Hanoi on the afternoon of July 16.-VNA

“I love my fatherland” journey 2026 launched

The “I Love My Fatherland” journey will comprise seven stages linked to historical, cultural and revolutionary sites across the country. The journey will begin in Nghe An on May 16 to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, before continuing through Hue city, Tuyen Quang–Lung Cu Flag Tower, Dien Bien, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau and Ho Chi Minh City, and concluding in Hanoi in October.

Education ministry targets five digital technology incubators at universities

A key target under the new plan is the establishment of five digital technology incubators, or Deeptech Hubs, at universities and research institutes with strong potential. The education ministry also plans to launch a training programme for 1,000 outstanding technology entrepreneurs and develop criteria for selecting and supporting startup ecosystems within educational institutions.
