Vietnamese week to kick off in Cuba, Mexico

A Vietnamese week will take place in Cuba and Mexico from May 21 to June 5, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST).
A Vietnamese week will take place in Cuba and Mexico from May 21 to June 5, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST).

Main activities, including traditional art performances, a Vietnamese film week and exhibitions highlighting the land, people and culture of Vietnam will be held in Cuba ’s capital city of Havana and Mexico ’s capital city of Mexico City and Acapulco city.

Vietnam ’s cultural heritage, tourism resources, culinary delights and the national defence and construction as well as the country’s achievements in industrialisation, modernisation and international integration process will be on display.

The evens are jointly organised by MCST, the Vietnam Culture and Arts Exhibition Centre and the National Song, Dance and Light Music Theatre./.

As part of Vietnam Week in St. Petersburg (May 19–23), a Vietnamese Language and Culture Festival was held on May 21 at High School No. 488 in the city’s Vyborg district, Russia.

Remains of Vietnamese fallen soldiers, experts repatriated from Laos

The remains of 12 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, who laid down their lives in different periods in Laos’ Savannakhet province, were repatriated following a handover ceremony on May 21. They will be re-buried at the Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery in Vietnam's central province of Quang Tri on May 22.

Nghe An reburies martyrs' remains repatriated from Laos

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phung Thanh Vinh said that carrying a noble international duty, many Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts heroically joined Lao people in their struggle for national liberation and independence. Many of them sacrificed their lives in the country, including more than 12,000 soldiers laying down in the three provinces of Xaysomboun, Vientiane, and Xiangkhouang.
