Two Vietnamese businessmen have become the new owners of the US ' smallest town, Buford , Wyoming , after placing the winning bid of 900,000 USD at an auction on April 5.

The town of about 10 acres (40,500 sq.m) includes a three-bedroom home, a gas station and some old buildings. Dozens of people took part in the auction. The opening bid was 100,000 USD.

The names of the highest bidders and the purpose of their purchase were kept secret. However, American media quoted Tonjah Andrew, a real estate broker from Cheyenne and the buyers' representative, as saying the two buyers flew in from Vietnam to join the auction after reading about the event on the internet.

Don Sammons, the town's previous owner and sole resident, moved to Buford in 1980 with his wife and bought it in 1990. Sammons became the town's only resident after his wife died in 1995 and his son left in 2007.

Buford is the State of Wyoming 's second-oldest town, with its origins tracing back to the 1860s when it was the site of a fort to protect workers building the Transcontinental Railroad.

Wyoming is the 10th largest state in terms of land but the least populous in the Rocky Mountain region in the Western US . Two thirds of the state is covered with mountains.
