General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong met National Coordinator of the Mexican Workers’ Party (PT) Alberto Anaya Gutierrez on November 28 in Hanoi.

During the meeting, Gutierrez applauded the significant achievements that Vietnam has made during the past years. He expressed his belief that the CPV will continue to lead the country and overcome any obstacles to successfully implement its renewal cause for socialism in a changing world.

He briefed his host on the results of the cooperation plan between the two parties over the past years. He highlighted joint rice and coconut cultivation programmes in Mexico , nopal tree planting in Vietnam , an acupuncture programme for underprivileged people in Mexico, experience exchanges in education, as well as a Spanish publication of the Vietnam Pictorial.

Gutierrez highly valued the cooperation of the CPV and other Vietnamese agencies, and proposed some measures to further enhance solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two parties.

Applauding Gutierrez’s visit, Trong congratulated PT’s successful election in July and spoke highly of the contributions that PT and Gutierrez have made in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two parties since CPV and PT established their relationship 15 years ago.

Trong and Gutierrez agreed to broaden cooperation fields between the two parties while enhancing and deepening their cooperation.

Earlier, the PT delegation held talks with a CPV delegation led by Hoang Binh Quan, Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations.

The two sides discussed current situations in each party and country, as well as regional and international affairs of mutual concern. They also sought measures to increase cooperation efficiency between the two parties and countries in the future.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese Party and State presented a Friendship Order to Gutierrez in recognition of his positive contributions to solidarity, friendship and cooperation between both parties and nations.

During their stay, Gutierrez and his delegation paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, worked with the National Assembly Committee for External Relations, the CPV CC Commission for Popularisation and Education, the Communist Reviews, the Vietnam News Agency, the Central Acupuncture Hospital and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration.

They are scheduled to visit several economic, political, cultural and tourism sites in Da Nang and the central province of Quang Nam.-VNA
