Different trends of Vietnam ’s contemporary art have been introduced to Russian art lovers through a painting exhibition recently held in the Russian city of Vladivostok.

At the exhibition, Vietnamese painters’ artworks stood along paintings created by artists from Vladivostok , Ussuriysk and Krasnoyarsk cities, including that of Olga Zotova, Associate Professor of the Far Eastern Federal University, who is in charge of the event.

In 2012, Olga Zotova organised a tour of Vietnam for Russian artists who made sketches depicting the southern coastal city of Nha Trang in different styles.

Apart from exhibiting their paintings, participating Vietnamese painters also visited museum, attended seminars and festivals, and learnt new arts and handicrafts in Vladivostok, where cultures of Russia, Japan and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has intertwined.

Lacquer paintings by Nha Trang fine arts students that they brought along will vie at the ASEAN painters’ contest in the city in August.-VNA
