Vietnam's exports to Singapore spiked 23 percent to 1.237 billion SGD (965 million USD) over the first five months of this year.
According to Statistics Singapore, four major product groups recorded export values exceeding 100 million SGD (78 million USD) – machinery, equipment and tools; phones and spare parts; paper and paper products; plus glass and glass products.
Rice and seafood exports were also higher than last year's figures.
Vietnam's imports from Singapore fell 2 percent to 5.431 billion SGD (4.236 billion USD) during the Jan-May period.
Vietnam primarily imports petroleum and related products; machinery, equipment and tools; paper and industrial products; as well as plastics from the country.
Two-way trade turnover totalled 15.8 billion SGD (12.3 billion USD) last year, of which 2 billion SGD (1.56 billion USD) came from Vietnamese exports.-VNA
