Ho Chi Minh City-based photographer Pham Ty has won the Grand Prize at the world’s famous photo contest organised by US magazine Smithsonian.
His photo captured the scene of two women weaving a giant fish net at a small village.
The piece, which competed in the people category, was one of five Vietnamese pieces entering the list of 60 finalists.
The Smithsonian Photo Contest 2014 received 26,500 entries from 93 countries for six categories: natural world, travel, people, American experience, altered images and mobile.
The contest also announced cash prize of 2,500 USD for the winner of Grand Prize and 500 USD in each category.-VNA
