Vietnam’s “The Way Station” earns ASEAN film fest awards

“The Way Station”, directed by Hong Anh, has been in the limelight after being announced “best film” at the ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA Award) 2017 in Malaysia on May 6.

Hanoi (VNA) – “The Way Station”, directed by Hong Anh, has been in the limelightafter being announced “best film” at the ASEAN International Film Festival& Awards (AIFFA Award) 2017 in Malaysia on May 6.

Thefilm also won “Best Actor” for Pham Hong Phuoc and “Best Director of Photography” forLy Thai Dung.

It had record nominations in eight key categories, including best director,best actress, best supporting actor, and best screenplay.

TheAIFFA Award saw the competition of 109 entries from across the region thisyear.

TheWay Station is adapted from Do Phuoc Tien’s story titled “Dao cua dan ngu cu”(The Island of Aliens) written in 1992. Famed writer Nguyen Quang Lap wrote themovie script in 1996.

Thefilm takes the audience through the lives of people from around the country whogather in a little village by the sea. It depicts the confusion and uncertaintyof their journeys to find happiness and meaning.
