Vietnam recorded an unemployment rate of 2.28 percent in the first six months of 2013, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
In 2012, the rate was only 1.99 percent, lower than the respective 2010 and 2011 figures of 2.8 percent and 2.2 percent.
By July 1, the labour force of working age is 47.2 million people, an increase of 98.500 people compared to April 1. Labourers aged 15 and 24 working in first six months is estimated to number 52.2 million, an increase of 0.97 percent compared to 2012.
The unemployment rate of employees of working age in 2013 is estimated at 2.28 percent, 3.85 percent in urban area and 1.57 percent in rural area. The rates of young people (15-24 years) and adults (25 years old and older), will stand at 6.07 percent and 1.34 percent, respectively.
The unemployment rate of youth in urban area is estimated to be 4.5 times higher than the rate of adults.
