A signing ceremony to establish the cooperation between the two sides was held in Vientiane on March 25.
Accordingly, Viettel will fund all expenses for implementing theproject, which aims at building the font system for mobile phones aswell as establishing rules for entering characters on devices usingAndroid and iOS operating systems and computers using Windows.
The company will also provide consulting services and trainingcourses, and transfer technology to Laos’ Ministry of Post andTelecommunications.
According to Tran The Cuong, arepresentative from Viettel, the project aims to facilitate Lao peopleto use their native language on electronic devices. He said through theproject, Viettel hopes to contribute to preserving and developing Laos’language and traditions.
Deputy Minister of Postand Telecommunications Thansamay Commasith thanked the group for itspractical support in the project, which marks the breakthrough of hiscountry’s telecom sector.
Once completed, theproject’s products will be used officially in Laos, bringing about anopportunity to provide access to telecom services to 7 million Laopeople across the country.-VNA
