The Vietnam Family Planning Association (VINAFPA) now tops the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) member associations in condom social marketing.

The information was released at a ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of VINAFPA held in Hanoi on January 11.

The association further stated that it ranks 10 th in total services supplied by IPPF members around the world, while staying at the 12th position in services for minors and youngsters, the 8th position in abortion-related services and the 14th position in contraceptive methods and services.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Viet Tien applauded the achievements the association has recorded and affirmed that these have significantly contributed to the care for public health.

He said he hopes the association will continue to promote its achievements and carry out many more activities to increase the effectiveness of reproductive healthcare services.

During the event, IPPF representatives realised the efforts of VINAFPA and affirmed its support for the association in the future.

Over the past two decades, the association has supplied services to 15.2 million people and delivered 150 million contraceptive products including condoms and morning-after pills. Its network now covers 49 out of the 63 provinces and cities nationwide and includes the participation of over 155,000 volunteers.

On the occasion, the association was honoured with a Labour Order, second class. -VNA
