Vinh-Vientiane air route officially opens

The first flight linking Vinh city in the central province of Nghe An and the Lao capital city of Vientiane landed at the latter’s Wattay International Airport on January 12.

The first flight linking Vinh city in the central province of Nghe Anand the Lao capital city of Vientiane landed at the latter’s WattayInternational Airport on January 12.

It was thefirst new international route run by Vietnam Airlines, the national flagcarrier, in 2014 following the five that opened last year.

The carrier operates four flights per week on the new route, withplanes departing every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday by ATR-72aircraft.

The flights depart from Vinh airport at 8:40 am and from Vientiane airport at 10:40 am (local time).

Director General of the Lao Civil Aviation Department Yakua Lopangkaosaid that the new route will facilitate the travel of the two countries’businessmen and tourists, contributing to expanding their comprehensivecooperation.

Laos Airlines will create all possible conditions for Vietnam Airlines to effectively exploit its routes to Laos, he added.-VNA
