Virtual fundraising event raises 138,650 USD for poor children

More than 3.2 billion VND (about 138,650 USD) were raised during an online fundraising event held by Saigon Children’s Charity on September 12-17, its Chairman David Appleton has said.

 HCM City (VNA) – More than 3.2billion VND (about 138,650 USD) were raised during an online fundraising event heldby Saigon Children’s Charity on September 12-17, its Chairman David Appletonhas said.

Titled “Saigon Summer Ball 2020”, the eventaimed to support children from disadvantaged families and help them continuetheir study, especially in the context of COVID-19.

A recent survey showed that the lives ofpeople in Mekong Delta localities have become more difficult due to naturalhazards such as drought, saline intrusion, and the ravaging pandemic, Appleton noted, addingthat many families in the region are struggling to make ends meet.

The “Saigon Summer Ball” has been held overthe years to help improve lives of thousands of poor children through culinaryexperiences./.
