VN, China step up security cooperation

Vietnam and China have agreed to enhance the exchange of high-level and expert delegations to share information and experience in combating drug trafficking, terrorism, counterfeit currency and hi-tech crimes and safeguarding inland security.

Theagreement was reached at the talks between Vietnamese Minister of PublicSecurity Sen. Lieut. Gen. Tran Dai Quang and his Chinese counterpartMeng Jianzhu in Beijing on Jan. 5.

The ministersalso agreed to beef up cooperation in training police officers andimprove their professionalism, foreign languages, science-technology andmartial arts as well as providing each other with equipment anddevices.

Quang said that the results of cooperationbetween the two ministries have contributed to maintaining social orderand security of each country and boosting the traditional relationshipbetween the two Parties, States and peoples.

Later onthe day, Quang met with Zhou Yongkang, member of the Standing Committeeof the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Committee of Political andLegislative Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

Quang, who is on an official visit to China from Jan. 4-7,informed his host of the earlier talks with the Ministry of PublicSecurity, the Ministry of State Security and the People’s Armed PoliceForce of China.

Zhou highly valued the outcomes ofcooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and theMinistry of Public Security, the Ministry of State Security and thePeople’s Armed Police Force of China. He also expressed his hope thatthe two sides will further bolster cooperation under the instruction ofthe two Parties and Governments./.
