According to Pham Van Cong, Deputy Consul General and Commercial Counsellor of Vietnam to Hong Kong and Macau ( China ), economic ties between Vietnam and Macau have seen only moderate achievements, with two-way trade reaching only 34 million USD in 2011.

Vietnam mainly exports aquatic products and seafood, coffee, cashew nuts, vegetables and consumer goods to Macau , while importing equipment and plastics from the locality.

Cong said it is necessary to create conditions for businesses to exchange information, seek partners and cooperate to contribute to boosting economic and trade ties between the two countries.

On this occasion, the Department of Trade Promotion’s Ho Chi Minh City Office partnered with the Macau Organisation of Trade and Investment Promotion and the Northern Macau Association of Industry and Commerce to organise an exchange for the two sides’ businesses.

A representative of the Macau organisation introduced Macau ’s economic strengths as well as areas of great potential and encouraged Vietnamese businesses to invest in tourism in the region.

The representative also pledged to provide the most favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest and run businesses in Macau. -VNA
