According to Pham Van Cong, Deputy Consul General and CommercialCounsellor of Vietnam to Hong Kong and Macau ( China ), economic tiesbetween Vietnam and Macau have seen only moderate achievements, withtwo-way trade reaching only 34 million USD in 2011.
Vietnam mainly exports aquatic products and seafood, coffee,cashew nuts, vegetables and consumer goods to Macau , while importingequipment and plastics from the locality.
Cong saidit is necessary to create conditions for businesses to exchangeinformation, seek partners and cooperate to contribute to boostingeconomic and trade ties between the two countries.
On this occasion, the Department of Trade Promotion’s Ho Chi Minh CityOffice partnered with the Macau Organisation of Trade and InvestmentPromotion and the Northern Macau Association of Industry and Commerce toorganise an exchange for the two sides’ businesses.
A representative of the Macau organisation introduced Macau ’seconomic strengths as well as areas of great potential and encouragedVietnamese businesses to invest in tourism in the region.
The representative also pledged to provide the most favourableconditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest and run businesses inMacau. -VNA
