National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has proposed that the Vietnam Peace Committee (VPC) and the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD) engage in closer cooperation, thus contributing to promoting peace and reducing weapons in the world.
NA Chairman Hung made the proposal at a reception given to CPAPD Vice President Li Wuwei in Hanoi on April 18.
The legislative chief affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam attach importance and will do their best to join the Party, State and people of China to constantly elevate the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for the interests of both peoples and for peace and development.
He underlined the Vietnamese NA’s desires to beef up cooperation with the Chinese National People’s Congress.
The two sides should promote the exchange of information and expertise to ensure that the two Governments will effectively deploy cooperative programmes and projects as well as jointly coordinate and support each other at regional and international parliamentary forums, Hung said.
Li Wuwei, who is also Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, affirmed that his visit aims to further deepen the two countries’ traditional friendship and step up cooperative relations between the two States and between CPAPD and VPC.
He said he hopes the two NAs will increase the exchange of experience in legislative and supervisory work.
At another reception given by President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Huynh Dam in Hanoi the same day, Li Wuwei said that Vietnam and China should continue their close, mutually-beneficial coordination to contribute to the two countries’ traditional friendship fostered by President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong.
Meanwhile, Dam highlighted China’s achievements, which he said have helped the country raise its position in the international arena.
