Vietnam and Cuba have agreed to adopt an array of measures to strengthen and expand bilateral relations in various domains, thus making active contributions to each country’s development.
The consensus was reached at the meetings between Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister M. Gonzalez and Vietnamese officials during the former’s three-day visit to Vietnam from Sept. 6-8.
During his stay, Gonzalez was received by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung, who is Co-Chairman of the Vietnam - Cuba Inter-Governmental Committee.
The Cuban deputy minister also held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart, Ho Xuan Son, and met with Deputy Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Commission for External Relations Nguyen Manh Hung, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong.
At these meetings, both sides expressed their delight at the fine development of the traditional relationship between the two Parties, States and peoples in general and between the two foreign ministries in particular. They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
The two sides emphasised the necessity to closely coordinate and support each other at international organisations and multilateral forums, including the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) to protect the two countries’ legitimate interests and improve their positions in the regions and the world./.
