VN, Cuba move to expand cooperative ties

Vietnam and Cuba have agreed to adopt an array of measures to strengthen and expand bilateral relations in various domains, thus making active contributions to each country’s development.

The consensus wasreached at the meetings between Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister M.Gonzalez and Vietnamese officials during the former’s three-day visit toVietnam from Sept. 6-8.

During his stay, Gonzalez was receivedby Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Minister ofConstruction Trinh Dinh Dung, who is Co-Chairman of the Vietnam - CubaInter-Governmental Committee.

The Cuban deputy minister also heldtalks with his Vietnamese counterpart, Ho Xuan Son, and met with DeputyHead of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC)Commission for External Relations Nguyen Manh Hung, and Deputy Ministerof Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong.

At thesemeetings, both sides expressed their delight at the fine development ofthe traditional relationship between the two Parties, States and peoplesin general and between the two foreign ministries in particular. Theyalso exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutualconcern.

The two sides emphasised the necessity to closelycoordinate and support each other at international organisations andmultilateral forums, including the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) toprotect the two countries’ legitimate interests and improve theirpositions in the regions and the world./.

Vietnam, Russia issue joint statement on further strengthening ties in new period
