Vietnam wants to join efforts with Cuba in exploring new andeffective methods of cooperation to benefit their people, Prime MinisterNguyen Tan Dung has said.
While receiving CubanMinister of Culture Abel Enrique Prieto Jimenez in Hanoi on Oct. 20,PM Dung promised to support and create favourable conditions forVietnam ’s concerned agencies to expand and boost cultural cooperationwith the island country.
Together with bilateralcooperation in politics, diplomacy and trade, the enhancement ofcultural relations would make the two nations more close-knit, theleader said.
Jimenez said the Cuban delegation’svisit was aimed at accessing Vietnam ’s experiences in developing andpreserving cultural values, thereby contributing to the building ofrelevant policies in Cuba .
The two sides are tosign a cultural cooperation programme for the 2011-2013 period, whichwould help the Cuban and Vietnamese people better understand eachother’s cultures, he said.
The same day, Politburomember Truong Tan Sang received Minister Prieto Jimenez, who was also aPolitburo member of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee.
Sang, a permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam CentralCommittee’s Secretariat, said Vietnam always stood side by side withCuba and would do its utmost to promote the bilateral relationship.
The Party official conveyed the best regards fromParty General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and State President Nguyen MinhTriet to Cuban President Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro.
Jimenez said Vietnam’s renewal achievements have proved theVietnamese revolution was advancing forward firmly and that itsexperiences were very useful to Cuba .
Havingthanked the Party, State and people for their valuable support andassistance, the minister affirmed that Cuba would spare no effortsto strengthen and step up the traditional and loyal relationship betweenthe two nations.
Later in the day, Jimenez heldtalks with Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and tourism Hoang TuanAnh, during which they reviewed the results of cultural cooperationover the recent past and signed a cultural cooperation programme for thenext three years.
Under the terms of the agreement,the two sides pledged to increase cultural exchanges such as artperformances, exhibitions of paintings, photos and books and filmscreenings.
The two sides will boost the sharing ofexperiences in cultural management, heritage preservation and managementand facilitate cooperation between labs, museums, film studios andtraining establishments.
Cuba also vowed toparticipate in international cultural events which will be heldregularly in Vietnam , including the Hue Festival, the 4thInternational Circus Festival, the 3rd International Puppetry Festivaland the 2nd International Film Festival./.
