VN, Denmark mark 40 years of diplomatic ties

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh recalled the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Denmark on Nov. 25, 1971.

Minh said that during the past four decades, t he fine cooperation between the two countries has been nurtured and developed by the two countries’ leaders and people in all fields, ranging from diplomacy, trade and investment to culture, education, training, science and technology.

He said the Vietnamese Government and people are always grateful to the Danish government and people for continuously providing official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam to support its post- war reconstruction. Denmark has become an important economic partner of Vietnam and a growing number of Danish firms are investing in Vietnam .

Minister Minh affirmed Vietnam always attaches importance to developing relations with Denmark , saying that the country will facilitate foreign enterprises doing business in Vietnam , including those from Denmark .


Danish Minister of Trade and Investment Pia Olsen Dyhr expressed her belief that relations between Vietnam and Denmark will develop into collaborative ties, which is expected to be accompanied by a decrease in development assistance from Denmark and an lift in trade cooperation and other relations.

The two countries should also promote cooperation in investment and green growth, aiming to lift Vietnam-Denmark relations to a new level in the 21 st century, Pia Olsen Dyhr said.

Speaking highly of Vietnam’s efforts in national socio-economic development, Pia Olsen Dyhr said Vietnam is an important part of the Asian economy, suggesting Vietnam invest in effective energy use, clean technology, education and infrastructure./.
