Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said that Vietnam and Indonesia should take advantage of their potential and advantages to serve cooperation and development.
PM Dung made the statement at a reception given to Indonesian Ambassador Mayerfas, who paid him a courtesy visit in Hanoi on March 13.
The Vietnamese Government leader congratulated Indonesia on its achievements in national construction and development, which he said has helped elevate the country’s role and position in the region and the international arena.
Both sides should closely and effectively coordinate to implement cooperative agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders, including beefing up cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and science and technology, in order to raise two-way trade to 10 billion USD by 2015, doubling the estimated figure, the PM said.
He also proposed both sides enhance cooperation in agriculture, fishing, culture and education.
He said he hopes Ambassador Mayerfas will exert his utmost to bring the two countries’ relations to a new height and affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will create favourable conditions for the ambassador to fulfil his term of office in Vietnam.
For his part, Ambassador Mayerfas pledged to do his best to promote the development of Indonesia-Vietnam traditional, friendly cooperation with priority given to devising a comprehensive, bilateral cooperative programme.
He expressed his hope that the two countries will increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, along with experiences and optimum models for socio-economic development.-VNA
