Ireland and Vietnam should exchange high-ranking delegations, exchange experiences in legislative work, establish a parliamentary friendship group and develop cultural exchanges and trade relations, said Chairman of the Irish National Parliament Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen.
Breen, who is on a five-day working visit to Vietnam beginning on Sept. 12, made this statement to Vice National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan at a reception in Hanoi on Sept. 12.
He said the Irish Government would continue to effectively implement assistance projects in Vietnam , in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, education and unexploded ordnance clearance.
Vice NA Chairwoman Ngan thanked the Irish Government for its official development assistance (ODA) capital in national construction and development.
The two sides should exchange experience and boost relationship between the two countries’ MPs, consolidating and enhancing mutual understanding and trust, to further promote multifaceted bilateral cooperation, she said.
The NA leader added that both sides should increase investment and promote trade to match the two countries’ potentials./.
