VN, Laos agree on increased labour cooperation

Vietnam and Laos have agreed to further promote cooperation in labour and social welfare affairs to match their special and comprehensive cooperative ties.

The agreement was reached by Vietnamese Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and her Lao counterpart Onnecchanh Thammavong at a two-day Vietnam-Laos Ministerial Meeting on Labour Cooperation, opened in the northern Lao province of Xieng Khouang on May 24.

Under the agreement, the two sides will increase the sharing of experience in building policies towards jobs, labour dispute settlement, vocational training and social insurance, as well as encourage relevant localities and organisations to expand cooperation through information sharing and in managing Vietnamese workers in Laos.

The two sides also agreed to build a vocational centre and a functional rehabilitation centre in Laos and improve the skills of Lao students and officials in charge of labour and social welfare issues./.
