VN, Laos reviews friendship in post-colonial period

A symposium on the establishment of the north-western resistance committee during Vietnam and Laos ’s wars against the French is scheduled to be held by the end of March or early April in Laos ’s province of Sainyabuli.
A symposium on the establishment of the north-western resistance committeeduring Vietnam and Laos ’s wars against the French is scheduled to be held bythe end of March or early April in Laos ’s province of Sainyabuli.

Thesymposium will draw the participation of more than 100 officials of the partiesand governments of both countries, as well as the Laos-Vietnam VeteransAssociation along with representatives of other relevant ministries andagencies.

High on the agenda will be Vietnam-Laos solidarity through theestablishment of the resistance committee in the Laos ’s north-western regionand an historical archive documenting the special ties between the two countriesas well as plans for 2010. A get-together will be held for historical witnessesfrom the two countries on the occasion.

“Sainyabuli has been chosen asthe venue of the symposium because the zone 2 resistance committee wasestablished in the province,” said Viengkeo Phommahaxay, head of the jointcommittee for compilation of history.

The participants will take theoccasion to visit several revolutionary bases in Laos ’s Sainyabuli and LuangPrabang provinces.

The north-western resistance committee, establishedin October, 1947, played an important role for both Vietnam and Laos duringtheir resistance wars against French colonialists./.

NA President tours revolutionary sites in China’s Shaanxi

NA President Man and his delegation travelled to Yan’an by high-speed train. The city is regarded as the cradle of China’s revolution and a symbol of resilience, solidarity and self-reliance. It also bears the imprint of Nguyen Ai Quoc, or President Ho Chi Minh, whose revolutionary activities during his time in China contributed to the Chinese revolution and the international communist movement.
