The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed Vietnamese representative agencies in Nepal to urgently verify information on Vietnamese missing in a recent snowstorm in Himalayas.
The ministry’s Consular Department said on October 21 that the Vietnamese Embassy in India and Nepal has been urged to promptly contact with the Nepali Foreign Ministry and Embassy in India to clarify the case and take necessary rescue measures.
The Vietnamese Embassy has actively contacted with the Vietnamese Association, the association of trekkers, travel agencies and hospitals in Nepal to seek more information.
The snowstorm and avalanche in Nepal’s Himalayas has killed at least 20 trekkers and guides, including nine foreigners and eight Nepalis, on a popular hiking route, while more than 100 others remain out of contact, according to local officials.-VNA
