The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is willing to collaborate with Vietnam’s overseas representative offices in promoting the country’s image and economic achievements, stated VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi.
Speaking at a working session with the newly-appointed heads of Vietnamese representative offices at the VNA headquarters in Hanoi on June 16, the leader of the State-owned news agency asked the officials to continue working closely with the VNA in the information work and providing information for the agency.
The VNA leader introduced his guests to the VNA’s network, which has 63 local representative offices in all 63 provinces and cities across Vietnam and 30 overseas bureaus.
Apart from supplying news and photos to subscribed users, the agency has approximately 60 different publications in both Vietnamese and foreign languages, including the electronic multi-language newspaper Vietnam Plus, the English language newspaper Viet Nam News, the Tin Tuc (News) daily, the The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports and Culture) daily, the French language Le Courrier du Vietnam weekly and the multi-language Vietnam Pictorial magazine. It also runs its own television channel – the VNEWS.
Over the past 70 years, the VNA has fulfilled its task as a national news agency, becoming a reliable strategic information centre of the Party and State, and acting as a bridge connecting Vietnamese people at home and abroad and foreigners around the world, General Director Nguyen Duc Loi added.
On behalf of the diplomats, Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Minh Khoi stressed the importance and necessity of coordination between the VNA and ambassadors and chiefs of overseas representative offices.
He pledged that VNA correspondents will receive support from chiefs of Vietnamese representative offices abroad.-VNA
