The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on Sept. 28 launched a website which provides readers with Vietnam and world news in Chinese language at http://news.vnanet.vn and http://cn.vietnamplus.vn.

At the launching ceremony, VNA General Director Tran Mai Huong said that the decision to open a webpage in Chinese language in addition to English, French and Spanish languages is one of VNA’s concrete steps to diversify information publications towards a strong and prestigious national communications group on the international arena.

The website will provide Chinese language readers throughout the world with fast, accurate and attractive news on Vietnam’s society, nation, people and socialist construction achievements as well international and regional issues, particularly the firm development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation between Vietnam and China in all fields, he said.

The VNA leader took the occasion to send his congratulations to the Chinese colleagues and people on China’s National Day (Oct. 1) and wished the Chinese people greater successes in their socialist construction.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Sun Guoxiang affirmed that VNA is a prestigious press agency in the country and highly valued in Asia and the world.

The website will serve as a bridge of economic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two nations and reflect the achievements recorded by the Chinese and Vietnamese people in their national construction and development, thus contributing to promoting the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries, said Sun.

The website in Chinese language will be updated on the VNANET service network that transmits around 500 news and photographs per day and offer free download on e-newspaper Vietnamplus with 20 million hits per week./.
