General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Nguyen Duc Loi held a working session with visiting Russian Presidential Envoy for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi, in Hanoi on October 25.

The VNA leader said the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia has developed fruitfully in various realms, including cooperation in information and communications.

He noted that the VNA and Russia’s ITAR-TASS news agency boast close cooperation in the exchange of information and delegations and human resource development, meeting the demand for information in the new situation.

General Director Loi expressed his wish that Russian media agencies will provide the VNA with information on the situation in Russia and the country’s official viewpoints on international issues, as well as on the Vietnamese community in Russia.

He asked for the envoy’s assistance so that the VNA and ITAR-TASS will successfully organise a photo exhibition spotlighting the relationship between the two countries and make wide coverage on the upcoming official visit to Vietnam by President V.Putin.

The VNA also need Russia’s help in training reporters and editors in the Russian language.

In response, Mikhail Shvydkoi said he believes President V.Putin’s upcoming visit to Vietnam will continue elevating bilateral relationship to a new height.

He spoke highly of the quality of the VNA’s information products, saying he is delighted at the close cooperation between the two national news agencies, contributing to enhancing the traditional friendship between the two nations.

According to him, Russia wants to set up a joint cooperation committee on press and stands ready to help Vietnam in training reporters and editors in the Russian language.

During his stay in Vietnam, the Russian Presidential Envoy for International Cultural Cooperation had working sessions with the Ministry of Information and Communications and Vietnam Television.-VNA
