VN-Index almost reaches 920 points after Tet holiday

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) rose by 10.54 points to reach 919.21 points in the morning of February 11, the first working day after the nine-day Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Hanoi (VNA) - The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) rose by 10.54 points to reach 919.21 points in the morning of February 11, the first working day after the nine-day Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

More than 65.18 million shares worth over 1.39 trillion VND (59.7 million USD) were traded during the session, with 181 codes advancing, 43 unchanged and 91 declining.

Meanwhile, the HNX-Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) increased 1.11 points to 104.45 points, with more than 16.56 million shares valued at over 178.3 billion VND (4.6 million USD). There were 64 codes rising, 39 remaining flat and 41 sliding.

In the VN30 basket, which measures the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalization on the HoSE, up to 21 codes witnessed price hikes, while only six codes dropped.

Stocks like VIC, HPG, STB, MSN, VNM and PNJ experienced the highest increases, ranging from 1.4-3.1 percent.

Price hikes were also seen in most bank, petroleum and securities shares on February 11 morning.

During the session, foreign investors bought 332,810 shares valued at 12.38 billion VND (532,340 USD) on the HoSE, and sold 529,4933 shares worth 1.05 billion VND (45,150 USD) on the HNX.-VNA
