Volunteer club leads community efforts for cleaner Vung Tau beaches

The movement to keep Vung Tau clean and green has spread across the city, with hundreds of people, from local groups and businesses to individuals joining to make the city a better place to live. For almost three years now, every weekend, rain or shine, volunteers have been out on the beaches and in tourist spots, picking up trash to protect the environment.

The Blue Sea Club of Vung Tau, founded in 2022 by Ta Van Truong, has become a key player in the city’s environmental protection efforts.

Despite his busy personal schedule, Truong was driven by his concern for pollution along Vung Tau's beaches and tourist areas, which led him to launch the initiative.

Beginning as a small clean-up effort with colleagues, friends, and family, the club quickly gained momentum, attracting widespread participation.

Every Sunday morning from 6:00 to 8:30, more than 200 club members gather to clean the beaches, removing tons of waste. The collected trash is carefully sorted before being sent for proper disposal.

These regular clean-ups not only enhance the appearance of Vung Tau’s tourist sites but also promote environmental responsibility among the public.

In nearly three years, the club has grown to almost 400 members, drawing participants from inside and outside Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, including business owners, professionals, office workers, industrial laborers, homemakers, and students.

The club's efforts have significantly contributed to Vung Tau's environmental conservation, supporting the city's goal of becoming a model ASEAN Clean Tourist City and fostering a strong sense of community responsibility./.
