Hanoi (VNA) – The vote of confidence on officials holding positions elected or approved by the National Assembly has drawn great public attention recently.

Tran Van Tuy, head of the NA Committee for Deputy Affairs and deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, said vote of confidence is part of the NA and People’s Councils’ supervision role, evaluating voters’ trust in officials to serve personnel assessments.

The work aims to strengthen the efficiency of the NA, ensuring the vote of confidence gives a foundation for agencies to make personnel decisions and arranged officials in the most efficient manner, while encouraging officials with low votes to step down.

Over the years, the practice has proved effective, helping enhance the responsibility and operational efficiency of officials. Many officials receiving low votes have worked harder to improve.

Under the Article 18 of the Law on Supervisory Activities of NA and People’s Councils 2015, NA deputies  cast votes of confidence on the President, Vice President, NA Chairperson, NA Vice Chairperson, members of the NA Standing Committee, heads of the NA Ethnic Council and NA Committees, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and heads of ministerial-level agencies, the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, the head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, and the State Auditor General.

The total number of officials under scrutiny is 50.

However, officials in office for under nine months will not be included in the list. Therefore, the President and the Minister of Information and Communications, which will be elected and approved in the sixth session, will be excluded from the vote.

Tuy expressed his belief that NA deputies will show fairness and lucidity in their voting.-VNA
