Before the election day on May 20th, voters across the country mingled in a stream of exciting emotions. Each citizen personally elects the most conscientious and qualified deputies to become a member of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term.

However, the people with the most excitement and pride are probably young people - citizens who are old enough to vote for the first time. These are young people from full 18 years old to under 24 years old.

Among them, young people under 24 years old are citizens under 18 years old at the time of the election of the previous term (May 22, 2015, term from 2015 to 2020). Nguyen Hoang Nam is temporarily residing in Tan Trieu Commune, Thanh Tri district is such an example.

Nam shares: “Five years ago, I wasn't 18 yet, so I couldn't vote. At that time, I saw some of my friends voting, but I didn't care much. This year, when I hold the election ballot in my hand, I have a lot of expectations for new and better faces”.

The youngest in this group of citizens is Doan Vu Quang Phu (18 years old) living in the Hai Ba Trung district. With the precarious epidemic situation, Phu is concentrating on getting ready for the national high school exam but still takes time to learn about the candidates.

Tue Minh (21 years old), living in Tay Ho district, also shared his excitement before this first vote. “I am very excited to go to vote with my friends. Since we got the information about the candidates, we have done a lot of research, and each of us has a choice”.

At the same age, Huong Thuong (Nam Tu Liem district) expects policies to support and help students when they graduate, and at the same time advises each person to go vote themselves to make the most right decision and suitable for them.

In the context of the complicated epidemic situation, the observance of anti-epidemic rules for themselves and the community are the two things that Hoai Thom (22 years old) pays the most attention to in this first election.

She said she would bring her own hand sanitizer, wear a mask and gloves… to prevent the epidemic. Thom believes that ensuring the safety of herself and everyone else is as important as the obligation to vote which contributes to selecting people who are strong and talented enough to shoulder the country./.
