Vietnam Television (VTV) should pay attention to improving the quality of its television programmes in order to better serve the different tastes of viewers, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
While working with the VTV staff during his pre-Tet visit on January 21, the State leader said that VTV must orient its strategies towards long-term development to create programmes on a par with major television stations in the region as well as around the world.
As a first step, the station must upgrade its technology and improve its staff’s professional and political knowledge, he said.
According to the State President, VTV should increase its news coverage of good and positive aspects of the society and the contributions of outstanding individuals, as well as actively refute biased information coming from those with disruptive agendas.
“VTV must become a pioneer, delving into tense and complex issues on the media front and bringing an official voice to viewers,” he said.
President Triet also praised efforts by VTV reporters, programme producers and technicians in fulfilling their tasks.
The station’s offerings are diverse and plentiful, and are concerned with every corner of the life, he said, adding that with its current 6 channels, VTV has covered all regions of the country and many other countries throughout the world, helping boost economic development, keep the people well-informed and promote the image of Vietnam to the international community.
VTV has made active contributions to national construction and defence, he concluded./.
