Hanoi (VNA) – Member of the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang has been named as Secretary of the agency's Party Committee for the 2020-2025 tenure.
Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies’ Bloc Huynh Tan Viet handed over Decision No. 452-QĐ/ĐUK of the standing board of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies’ Bloc approving the new role to Trang during a conference in Hanoi on November 25.
Viet spoke highly of the VNA’s role in the country’s press system and Trang’s contributions to the development of the agency.
He expressed his belief that in her role as Secretary of the VNA Party Committee, Trang, together with other VNA leaders will continue pushing the agency forward, maintaining its position as a source of mainstream information, a strategic and trustworthy information centre of the Party and State, making important contributions to the cause of national construction, development and defence.
In her speech, Trang thanked the standing board of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies’ Bloc for entrusting her with new role as Secretary of the VNA Party Committee, saying that it is her great honour and responsibility.
She vowed to do her best, together with other VNA leaders, to uphold the past achievements of the national news agency, build a strong and transparent Party Organisation and improve its capacity and combative strength.
She wished to receive further close directions from the Party Committee of the Central Agencies’ Bloc as well as support of Party members to fulfill her assigned tasks./.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 10 signed Decision 1469/QD-TTg appointing Vu Viet Trang as General Director of the State-run Vietnam News Agency (VNA).
