Nghe An (VNA) - Sappers in the Military Command of the central province of Nghe An safely defused a 350-kg bomb left from wartime found in a residential area on February 1.

The explosive device was found by a local man in Ky Son district’s Nam Can commune on January 29 when he was digging a foundation for building a house. It was determined to be an M117 bomb with the detonator intact.

After receiving information on the whereabouts of the explosive device, local authorities had laid siege to the dangerous area and deployed troops for safeguarding.

The bomb was moved to a safe place for detonation./.

The released animals include one Hatinh langur (Trachypithecus hatinhensis), two Keeled box turtles (Cuora mouhotii), two Impressed tortoises (Manouria impressa), three Pygmy slow lorises (Nycticebus pygmaeus), one Big-headed turtle (Platysternon megacephalum), four Bourret’s box turtles (Cuora bourreti), and one Bengal monitor lizard (Varanus bengalensis).
