WB adds 65 mln USD to Red River delta water project

The State Bank of Vietnam and the World Bank have signed an agreement and related legal documents on an additional finance to improve people’s access to water and sanitation in the Red river delta.
The State Bank of Vietnam and the World Bank have signed an agreementand related legal documents on an additional finance to improve people’saccess to water and sanitation in the Red river delta.

The 65.27 million USD additional fund will go to the Red river Delta Rural Water Supply and Sanitation project.

Theproject is designed to satisfy the rural demand for water, raisepeople’s awareness of clean water and strengthen community capacity forconstruction and management of water works as well as accelerate thenational strategy on water supply and rural sanitation until 2020.

The project is expected to help improve living conditions and reduce poverty for rural people./.

Rare green sea turtle released back into the wild in Quang Tri

The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), locally known as vich, is a rare and protected species under Vietnamese law. It is also listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a species of conservation concern and is included in the appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
