As many as 1,600 housing units were built for resettlement, along with 35 low-income residential areas, and 15 schools and clinics were upgraded as a result of the Urban Upgrading Project for the southern city of Can Tho, supported by the World Bank (WB).
The Project’s management board on May 30 announced to the WB the above figures, 18 months after it was launched.
The project was funded by a WB preferential loan of 90.3 million USD with a repayment term of 25 years and an annual interest rate of 2.5 percent, along with 20.4 million USD of state corresponding funding.
The five-year project and its four components focus on upgrading transport, water supply and drainage systems, low-income residential area environments; the construction of resettlement housing areas, clinics, schools and markets in the city’s wards.
