Hanoi (VNA) – Prime MinisterPham Minh Chinh hosted an official welcome ceremony for visiting GermanChancellor Olaf Scholz in Hanoi on November 13 afternoon.

The Chancellor and a high-rankingdelegation of Germany are paying an official visit to Vietnam from November 13 -14.

Right after thewelcome ceremony, the two leaders held talks.

TheGerman delegation includes Secretary of State and Federal Government SpokesmanSteffen Hebestreit; Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministryfor Economic Affairs and Climate Action Franziska Brantner; German Ambassadorto Vietnam Guido Hildner; the Chancellor's foreign policy and nationalsecurity advisor Jens Ploetner; the Chancellor’s economic policy advisorSteffen Meyer, among others.

During the visit, the German Chancellor is also setto take part in a press briefing, pay a courtesy call on Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong, participate in a roundtable conference with Vietnamese andGerman enterprises, and attend an official banquet.

Chancellor Scholz’s officialtrip to Vietnam is being made amid the intensive, effective, and comprehensivedevelopment of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Germany has been one of the most importantEuropean partners of Vietnam for many years. Meanwhile, mutual trust andunderstanding have been increasingly enhanced through high-level delegation exchangesand fruitful cooperation mechanisms./.
