Wildlife protection contest launched for teenagers

A contest titled “Teenagers with wildlife protection” was launched in Hanoi on April 10 as part of activities marking International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22).
A contest titled “Teenagers with wildlife protection” was launched inHanoi on April 10 as part of activities marking International Day forBiological Diversity (May 22).

The contest aims toencourage young people to engage in wildlife conservation activitiesthrough creative approaches in combination with entertainment forms.

All youth union members, students and teenagers nationwide areentitled to take part in the competition, which focuses on raisingawareness of the values of wildlife and the importance of wildlife andbiodiversity protection.

Contestants are alsoencouraged to represent their viewpoints on wildlife preservation, callon the public to say no to products derived from wild animals, as wellas build slogans, messages and actions on wildlife protection.

They can send their entries - songs, music performances, dances anddramas - recorded on CD or VCD, to the National Volunteer Centre at 64Ba Trieu Street, Hanoi from April 10 to May 10.

An award ceremony for the winners is scheduled for May 22 in Hanoi.-VNA

Dong Thap receives first sarus cranes from Thailand for conservation

The six cranes, including three males and three females, are around seven months old and were bred in captivity at Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo. They were flown to Vietnam and, following a mandatory quarantine period at the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, and now are eligible for relocation to Tram Chim for conservation and growth.
